Nature lovers will be able to admire majestic panoramas on Pantelleria, ranging from striking cliffs overlooking the sea to breathtaking sunsets with intense colours. In addition to the marvellous sea, the island offers a spectacular landscape made up of volcanic origin with phenomena of secondary volcanism (thermal waters and steam vents). Excursion enthusiasts can visit the 836 metre high Montagna Grande (easily accessible up to the summit) and other hills, through paths in the maritime pine forests or in the vegetation with the intoxicating scents of the Mediterranean maquis. The island is also home to the Specchio di Venere lake, of volcanic origin, with freely accessible thermal waters and mud. It is possible to take boat trips around the island and for divers to admire the splendid seabed (diving courses are available for all ages). There are many areas of archaeological interest on the island, such as the Sesi (Neolithic tombs) or the Acropolis of ancient Cossyra, which are still being excavated. There are also numerous and varied marine archaeological finds under the coasts. You can also savour excellent wines (the famous Passito) in the various wineries in Pantelleria and for lovers of good food, it will be difficult to resist the temptation of tasting traditional Pantellerian dishes in the island districts' various restaurants.
